Tribute to
Arthur "Killer" Kane
October 9, 2004; The Continental; NYC
Arthur "Killer" Kane, bassist and founding member of the New York Dolls, died from leukemia on July 13th, 2004. He lived long enough to play at the New York Dolls first reunion concert (if you can really call it the Dolls without the late Johnny Thunders and Jerry Nolan) earlier this year in the UK. This small tribute show at the Continental in NYC was somewhat poorly attended and many of the guest musicians who were expected to appear didn't show. Regardless, it was a heartfelt goodbye to a softspoken musician who considered Jesus Christ to be one of his biggest influences and who, in playing with the Dolls, helped change rock 'n' roll forever. On the bill were The Corpse Grinders, a band Kane used to be a member of and which still features original New York Dolls' guitarist Rick Rivets. Also playing was Sonny Vincent (ex-The Testors), and various other bands. Rest in Peace, Killer.
